There is something for everybody with crystal clear Lochs, winding Rivers, flowing green Glens, snow capped Mountains and Ocean shores. Ancient Architecture that’s stood the test of the time,Copyright: Scottish Highland Transport castles and strongholds that have witnessed many bloody battles and changes in local and national political power as the centuries have rolled on by. Over the years both factual and fictional novels and films add further intrigue to Scotland’s appeal. The movie Braveheart with Mel Gibson which portraying the historic freedom fighter William Wallace was partially filmed in Glen Nevis, Fort William in 1995. At the same time Rob Roy with Liam Neeson was also filming in Glen Nevis, Fort William as well as in Glencoe and in the Mamore Mountains above Kinlochleven. Michael Caine starred in the 1971 movie Kidnapped that portrayed the adventures of David Balfour in the year 1751. Kidnapped had footage shot around Appin and Loch Lhinne near Oban in Argyll. The first Highlander movie with Sean Connery had scenes filmed on the moors above the pass of Glencoe. Warner Brothers also used Glencoe during filming some of the Harry Potter movies with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. The Viaduct near Glenfinnan Railway Station attracts Potter fans, as they will remember it for the scene with the towering Viaduct, the Hogwarts Express Steam Train and the flying car.
